Information Technology · Documentation lookup

Get IT tasks done, straight from the documentation.

IT staff name the system, describe the task, and attach a file if they have one. AI works from the full vendor documentation to give cited steps, write the script, walk through troubleshooting, and generate FAQs, so your IT team spends less time searching and closes tickets faster.

The job

Less time in the documentation, more tickets closed.

Your IT team supports dozens of systems, each with thousands of pages of documentation that change with every release. Configuring a policy, running an upgrade, or fixing an error means finding the right setting or command across vendor sites, forums, and old tickets, and a task that should take ten minutes can take an afternoon.

With MultiModel, an engineer enters the system, such as Microsoft Purview, describes the task, and attaches a file if it helps, like a log, an error screenshot, or a user list. The assistant works out the steps from the documentation with citations, writes the script, lists the troubleshooting checks, and can turn the fix into an FAQ for employees.

  • Get cited, step-by-step instructions for configuration and upgrades
  • Write scripts for routine and bulk IT tasks, ready for review
  • Troubleshoot errors and turn the fix into an FAQ
How it works

From your documents to a sourced draft.

The assistant uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG): it finds the relevant passages in the content you approve, then answers from them with citations your team can check.

How RAG models work
01

Name the system and the task

Enter the system, describe what you need to do, and attach an optional file, such as a log, a screenshot, or a user list.

02

Get the steps and the script

In seconds, the assistant lays out the steps from the documentation, with a citation for each one, and writes the script, troubleshooting checks, or an FAQ if you ask.

03

Perform, verify, and close

The engineer checks the steps against the cited source, tests any script following your change process, completes the task, and closes the ticket.

In practice

What your team asks, and what comes back.

Scenario 1

Microsoft Purview DLP policy

The request. An engineer needs to set up a Purview DLP policy that blocks files with account numbers from being shared outside the bank, starting in test mode.

What the assistant returns. The steps to create the policy, the sensitive information types and conditions to choose, how to run it in test mode, and what to check before turning it on, each citing the Purview documentation.

Why it matters. The engineer configures the policy in one pass instead of reading the documentation end to end.

Scenario 2

Bulk task script

The request. The help desk needs to disable accounts and remove licenses for 40 departing seasonal staff listed in a spreadsheet.

What the assistant returns. A commented PowerShell script that reads the attached list, disables each account, removes licenses, and writes a log, with the documentation cited for each command.

Why it matters. A task that would take hours by hand becomes a reviewed, tested script, with a record of how it was produced.

Scenario 3

FAQ after a software update

The request. After an update to the bank's VPN client, the help desk sees a wave of tickets about a new sign-in prompt.

What the assistant returns. An explanation of the change from the release notes, the fix for the most common error, and a short employee FAQ, ready for the knowledge base.

Why it matters. The help desk publishes one answer instead of closing the same ticket fifty times.

Talk to us
Which systems can it help with?

Any software your team administers, such as Microsoft Purview, Intune, Entra ID, your core banking platform, or your firewall. Enter the system name and the assistant looks in that vendor's documentation, or attach an admin guide, release notes, or a configuration export to focus on your version and setup.

What kinds of IT tasks can it help with?

The hands-on work behind your tickets: configuring a setting or policy, planning an upgrade, onboarding and offboarding accounts in bulk, writing a script, reading a log, and tracking down the cause of an error. The assistant gives the steps in order, the exact settings or commands, and what to check afterward.

How do engineers know the steps are right?

Every step cites the documentation page or section it came from, so an engineer can open the source and check the details before making a change. When the documentation doesn't cover a question, the assistant says so instead of guessing.

Is it safe to run scripts the assistant writes?

Treat them as drafts. The assistant writes PowerShell, Bash, SQL, or other scripts and explains what each section does, but an engineer should review and test a script before it runs in production, following your change management process. The prompt log keeps a record of how each script was produced.

Can it help with troubleshooting?

Yes. Describe the symptom or paste an error message, and the assistant walks through the likely causes and the checks to run, in order, citing the vendor's troubleshooting guidance. Attach logs or a screenshot for a more specific answer.

How is this different from the IT help desk assistant?

The IT help desk assistant answers common questions from employees, such as resetting MFA or adding a printer, using your own knowledge base. Documentation lookup is for your IT team: performing the tasks behind the tickets on the systems they administer, from the vendor documentation.

Is anything sensitive sent outside our environment?

Attached files stay inside your own Azure or AWS environment and are never copied to a third-party service. Credentials, IP addresses, account numbers, and other sensitive data are redacted on the employee's device before a prompt is sent, and every prompt and answer is logged and excluded from model training.
